The last Sunday of September
Alhalalalai is a ceremonial Itelmen autumn festival which is held on the last Sunday of September signifying the end of a production cycle. This festival represents the elements of the myths about the creation of the world and the rituals connected with the gratitude for nature. The festival program includes a purification ceremony, different contests as the best salmon and sea animal handler, national cuisine and songs about native home, Miss Alhalalalai, the best cut of the fish and seal, children drawings and handmade articles, the scariest grimace. From 2010 the festival “Alhalalalai” got a status of an official festival.
